North Caledonian FA 17-18

The North Caledonian FA runs a league and variety of cup competitions for clubs in the far North of Scotland.

In theory, it provides a further tier to the senior pyramid in the north, sitting below the Highland League.  There is no promotion and relegation between the divisions, though the likes of Wick Academy and Fort William have moved up in the past.

It is not unusual for Highland League clubs to field reserve or development teams in the North Caledonian competitions.  Some North Caledonian clubs compete in the North of Scotland Cup, whilst Golspie Sutherland are full SFA members and enter the Scottish Cup.

After Tain St Duthus and Inverness Athletic joined last year, club numbers have been further increased with the return of Helmsdale based Bunillidh Thistle after a lengthy absence.  Elgin City and Nairn County have entered Under 20 sides for the cup competitions.
